Tsukurimono

Stage property.

Stage property. Minimalistic frame structures made of bamboo, wood, and cloth are placed on stage to indicate huts, tombs, caves, shrines, trees, and wells. These serve as key objects that focus the action and establish place. Most of the tsukurimono placed up-stage are large enough for someone to stand or sit inside them. Boats, carriages and smaller hand props (kodōgu) are often carried on stage only for a single scene during which they are central to the action.
