Ōgi

Fan. Folding fans are of two types: “spread tip” (chūkei) and “closed tip” (shizume ōgi). The former are carried by the shite and waki, while the latter are used for practice and worn by the instrumentalists and chorus members. In addition, there are flat, Chinese-style fans (Tō uchiwa) that are generally shield-shaped, but can also be round.
