A kosode-style nō/kyōgen costume with gold or silver stenciled patterns and rich embroidery.

nuihaku is a small-sleeved (kosode 小袖) noh costume made of soft silk, generally a satin weave, and worn for roles of women, young men, and kyōgen women. Nuihaku designs are a combination of gold and silver stenciled repeats embellished by embroidery. Nuihaku can be draped from shoulder to ankle (kitsuke), particularly when worn as an under garment. Frequently the upper portion of the nuihaku is folded down at the waist (koshimaki) so the sleeves hang over the actor’s hips.
