Kariginu

Outer men’s garment with round collar and double-width open sleeves.

A kariginu is an (ōsode) outer garment with double-width open-cuffed sleeves and a round-collar. Worn by aristocratic characters, kariginu can be either lined (awase) or unlined (hitoe), the former suited to ministers and supernatural beings, the latter to elegant courtiers. The front panels overlap and are draped so they fall loosely covering the belt.
