Five categories of Nō plays. A system developed in the Edo period for grouping nō plays by the character of the shite: 1st category deity plays (waki nō or shobanme mono), 2nd category warrior plays (shura nō or nibanme mono), 3rd category women plays (kazura nō or sanbanme mono), 4th category miscellaneous plays (zō nō or yonbanme mono), and 5th category finale plays (kiri nō or gobanme mono).
