Tsuzuke

A “continuous” hand-drum pattern where strokes fall on almost all the beats in a metric unit.

A “continuous” hand-drum pattern where strokes fall on almost all the beats in a metric unit. When chant is matched to this and other drum patterns that strike on most beats, the chant is called tsuzuke utai and requires extending certain syllables in order to fit the metric unit.
