InformationHappi 法被 are upper outer garments characterized by their straight front cut, broad open sleeves, and cloth band joining the front and back panels. Happi are worn by warriors, demons, ghosts and goblins. Some are lined (awase) and some, like this one, are unlined (hitoe). The unlined happi use an open weave fabric, typically a gauze weave, and have gold or silver thread supplementary patterning. Here composite floral icons are arranged over the whole garment in slightly staggered rows. (MB
